JOURNEY WAS STARTED
Basketball was introduced to Saint Lucia in the mid-70s by a group of peace corps volunteers who were based mainly to the north. The game quickly spread throughout the length and breadth of the island.
UEFA CHAMPION 1990
A few years later, courts were built all over to accommodate the growing popularity of the sport. Subsequently, the Saint Lucia Basketball Federation (SLBF) was established in the mid-80s to regulate and administer the sport.
CLOWN REWARD 2016
Over time, the sport attracted athletes who traditionally played cricket, soccer, and netball. The SLBF currently oversees 12 clubs with thousands of athletes affiliated nationwide. The Federation is the sole governing body for basketball on the island.
